Rough week for Lady Blackhawks

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks had a tough week dropping matches to two conference opponents, the Valley Christian Eagles and the Lincoln Lynx. The Ladies traveled to Missoula Sept. 5 to take on the Eagles then hosted the Lynx Sept. 7.

In Missoula the Lady Blackhawks fell to the Eagles in the opening set 23-25 and then tied it up with a 25-16 victory in the second set. The third set was another close one but the Eagles edged out the Lady Blackhawks 24-26. The Ladies had a 25-17 victory in the fourth before they fell 12-15 in the final set.

Sariah Maughan led the Lady Blackhawks against the Eagles with 9 kills on 25 attempts with just 4 attack errors.

Bethany Hoag scored with 6 aces of 28 serves with no service errors while Maughan had 5 aces of 17 with no errors.

Defensively, Klaire Kovatch led with 5 solo blocks and 2 assists while Hoag, Taylor Dillree and Trista Wendel all got into the double digits with digs.

At home the Lady Blackhawks and Lynx battled hard right to the very end. The teams traded sets with the Lady Blackhawks winning the first set, 25-23 and third, 25-19 while the Lynx won the second, fourth and fifth sets, 23-25, 24-26 and 17-19.

Kovatch led in kills scoring on 13 of her 47 attempts while Hoag had 11 of 30 attempts. Emma Stevenson had the highest percentage of kills with 5 of 13 attempted.

Kovatch led with 7 aces followed by Jordan Johnson with 5. Aspen Conley led in assists with 10 followed by Maughan with 9.

Dillree, Maughan and Wendel led in digging with 15, 14 and 11 respectively.

This week the Lady Blackhawks stay at home taking on Victor Sept. 12 with JV starting at 5:30 p.m. and then Darby Sept. 14 with JV starting at 3:30 p.m.
