Food Bank receives more than $1,000 from Soup Bowl Fundraiser

SEELEY LAKE – Alpine Artisans, Inc. presented the Seeley-Swan Community Food Bank with a donation of $1,084 raised from their Soup Bowl fundraiser at the Loon and Fish Festival over Memorial Day weekend.

Local potter and owner of Obsession Pottery Carrie Darrah donated 50 clay soup bowls. They were sold along with soup donated by local restaurants: Blue River Station, Hungry Bear, Pop's Place, Season's Restaurant, Seeley Lake 1-Stop, Seeley Lake Chicken Coop, The Filling Station and The Lodges on Seeley Lake.

President of the Food Bank Karen Montgomery said the soup bowl fundraiser was one of the Food Bank's big fundraisers from 2000-2013. When the Loon & Fish Festival ended, so did the fundraiser. The Food Bank struggled to find ways to raise the funds that have totaled more than $30,000.

Montgomery said the Food Bank was grateful that AAI brought back the soup bowls. The money will be used to purchase food.
