Couples themed golf night shakes up the course

SEELEY LAKE – A couples themed golf night at Double Arrow has brought a whole new attire to the course Thursday nights. Spurred by a golfer wearing Hawaiian golf shorts, pro shop employees Chelsea Cahoon and Lauren Selleck started the event July 11 and it continues to gain popularity.

When Cahoon's friend walked into the Double Arrow Golf Course Pro Shop in a colorful pair of Hawaiian golf shorts Cahoon said to Selleck, "Wouldn't it be fun to do a theme night?"

They brainstormed theme ideas and created meals to match. They pitched the idea to several golfers to see if there was any interest and decided to start a Couple's Night. Thursday, July 11 they kicked it off with "Hawaiian Night." Six couples joined the fun.

"It turned out great! Everyone really enjoyed it!" wrote Cahoon.

The next week was a "Vintage Golf Night." The number of teams doubled to 12. This Thursday, July 25 the theme is "Wild West!"

"Anyone is welcome to join," wrote Cahoon. "We would love to have the numbers continue to grow. It's just a lot of fun."

Tee-off is at 4:30 p.m. every Thursday with dinner following the 9-hole round. Each week is a different game, theme and meal. The winners win credit for use in the Pro Shop. Anyone interested is asked to call the Pro Shop (677-3247) or stop in and sign up by Tuesday evening to ensure there is enough food.
