SWAN VALLEY - Hundreds of people flocked to Condon, Mont. for the annual Fourth of July festivities.
Locals raved about the annual parade, which many mentioned seemed longer than usual. The Swan Valley American Legion Post 63 hosted the parade. It hosted a variety of floats from local emergency vehicles, a string of classic and vintage cars, and horses.
The Grand Marshal for the 2019 parade was Ronda Feucht. Throughout her lifetime she has lived and worked around California, Swan Valley and other parts of Montana. She graduated from Seeley-Swan High School in 1978.
Feucht met her husband and love of her life Steve Feucht while working at the "Wildy" – the Wilderness Village – tending bar. They were married in 1980 and had their daughter Shyanne three years later. The Feuchts moved to 40 acres on Glacier Creek Road in 1983. She has been involved with the Swan Valley Community Club, the Swan Valley American Legion Association, Post #63, coached basketball at Swan Valley Elementary School and worked at various businesses in the Swan Valley.
"Ronda is a friendly woman with a vibrant community spirit," wrote the Upper Swan Valley Historical Society in its annual July Fourth Celebration Program.
Lines wove around the parking lot in front of the community hall and the library for huckleberry ice cream and a free BBQ lunch hosted by Condon Community Church. Proceeds from the huckleberry ice cream went to benefit the Upper Swan Valley Historical Society. The church uses the donations to support local organizations.
This year, the Swan Valley Library, which is celebrating 40 years serving the Swan Valley, hosted its annual used book sale. Donations from the event went to benefit the Swan Valley Library. People also enjoyed displays in the Swan Valley Community Hall and in the Swan Valley Museum.
