North Fork Cottonwood Reroute Project Begins

SEELEY LAKE - Big Blackfoot Chapter of Trout Unlimited contractors started the north Fork Cottonwood Reroute project Monday, July 8.  This project is on the #477, Cottonwood Lakes Road, 0.25-0.5 miles east of the North Fork Cottonwood Creek.

The project intends to move a segment of road off the banks of the North Fork Cottonwood Creek and replace an existing culvert/fish barrier into a location of the stream that is more stable.  This will require less maintenance while enhancing aquatic habitat and access. This project should not impact traffic.

For more information contact the Seeley Lake Ranger District 677-2233.

Revive and Thrive Volunteer Event for Hill 16, July 14

SEELEY LAKE - The Nature Conservancy, Blackfoot Challenge and Five Valleys Land Trust invite the community to the fifth annual Revive and Thrive annual work party and celebration July 14- Hill 16 at Owl Creek Road, near Placid Lake State Park.

The free event offers individuals and families a way to connect with nature while having fun. You will likely see some neighbors and may even make some new friends.

Volunteers will be creating a trail and doing some other thinning and sprucing up. Afterwards, everyone can enjoy lunch and beers, courtesy of KettleHouse Brewing Company, while listening to live music.

The work party begins at 10 a.m. Many folks know and use this area and this is a chance for volunteers to treat it to some badly needed TLC.

Please dress for the weather, bring water and work gloves if you have them. Hopefully, a little sunscreen will be in order! TNC will supply the tools. Volunteers are asked to bring their love of nature and community spirit.

For information and a map to our event site, visit the nature.org/events. To volunteer, RSVP to Helen Jenkins at hjenkins@tnc.org or 406-543-6681
