SEELEY LAKE - Another senseless bear killing…why?? After being shot in the face by a shotgun and blinded, the bear was unable to see and stumbled around while someone laughed. The game warden was able to capture the bear and put it down to end its suffering.
How very inhumane this was. How cruel. What was the reason for shooting this bear? Was it in your garbage, in your chicken house, attacking you or are you just another person who just likes to kill or hurt a bear? The ignorance and killing of bears must STOP!
In my 27 years of living here, I have had at least 12 bears cross my yard a year and only had trouble with one who came up the stairs, over the gate and onto my deck. I took a pan and metal spoon and made a loud noise with them and finally he jumped off the deck.
People who live here and people who move here must learn how to live with bears and wildlife. No more slaughter of the bears or killing of animals for pleasure!
I’m offering a $200 reward for the person who shot this bear. Call the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Game Warden Bill Koppen with the name. If proven, I will honor the reward. You do not have to give your name – I will ask the game warden to inform me. There is also money available upon conviction through TIP MONT by calling 1-800-TIP-MONT. This also allows you to stay anonymous.
“What is a man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth, befalls the children of the earth.” - Chief Seattle, Suqwamish & Duwamish
