Scientists return to continue studying wildfire smoke impacts

SEELEY LAKE - The University of Montana, in conjunction with the Missoula County-City Health Department, is returning June 5 and June 26 to continue the smoke impact study they started in October 2017 following the Rice Ridge fire in Seeley Lake. Seeley Lake residents are encouraged to participate whether they have in the past or not.

The study will take place Wednesday, June 5 and Wednesday, June 26 at the Seeley Lake Community Hall (3248 Highway 83) from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Those interested are encouraged to sign up either through Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/WildfireStudy/) or the survey (https://bit.ly/umwildfire).

Please indicate which date and which of the three time slots participant would be able to come, 9-11 a.m., 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1-3 p.m.

Community passes for Holland Lake Day Use area to end by 2020

Swan Valley - The United States Forest Service informed the Swan Valley Community Foundation on May 7 that after four years of the Foundation providing community passes to Holland Lake Day use area, the number of passes available to the Foundation will be reduced in 2019 and eliminated entirely in 2020. This decision was made in a private meeting between the USFS and the concessionaire. 

Residents are encouraged to attend the Swan Valley Community Council meeting Tuesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. Flathead National Forest, Swan Lake District Ranger Chris Dowling as well as Foundation members will be present to answer questions and address concerns.

Seeley Lake Library news

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library has life jackets in three different sizes available for checkout. For more details call 677-8995.

The Summer Reading Program will begin the second week in June. More information will follow. 

The Seeley Lake Library is a branch of Missoula Public Library located at Seeley-Swan High School. The library is open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Seniors will be using the library for presentations the morning of Wednesday, May 22. The library will open to the public at noon that day.
