Construction underway at the new Seeley Lake Community Foundation building

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Community Foundation is creating a community space in the former Deer Country Quilts building, along Highway 83. We're working to make this beautiful log building, in the heart of downtown Seeley Lake, into a hub for community activities and a centralized location for residents and visitors to access important services.

Work is underway to remodel the interior, transitioning the building into beautiful workspaces. There will be six comfortable office spaces downstairs, as well as a conference room upstairs.

The satellite office of Missoula Aging Services will be on the ADA-accessible ground floor level, helping the Seeley-Swan Valley's older residents successfully age in place. The local Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center will be in the east wing of the building, promoting local businesses and helping a mainstay of our rural economy from this convenient downtown location. Missoula County Weeds District will have an office space, providing support to local landowners through grant funding for invasive species control, monitoring aquatic invasive species, and education programs.

The Foundation will of course be housed in the new building, as well. Each year, the Foundation gives grants to nonprofits for local projects, offers the Change Your Pace Challenge, a community fundraiser encouraging giving to local groups, and coordinates I Ride, a medical appointment van shuttle, supplying a critical unmet need for many of Seeley Lake's seniors and disabled.

Most groups will be moving into the new space in late May. The Visitor Center will open Memorial Day weekend. The weekly Farmer's Market will run on the Foundation's property from Father's Day to Labor Day. SLCF will hold a grand opening for the building on June 15th.

The vision the Foundation board of directors has for this building is to create an exciting and inspiring local space where nonprofits are united to meet the common economic, social, cultural and educational needs and aspirations of Seeley Lake. This project aims to bring organizations together to achieve more than they can on their own and bring our small rural community together.

Foundation Executive Director Claire Muller says, "We're excited about the incredible potential a centrally located community space has for making a difference in Seeley Lake."

The Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit that engages philanthropy, provides leadership, and enhances the quality of life and economic vitality of the Seeley Lake area.

The Foundation exists to support local nonprofit organizations, and connect and grow resources for the Seeley Lake area. In this capacity, the Foundation strives to be a community resource and a catalyst for innovative approaches to improving the quality of life here.

The Foundation is looking to bring other groups into the space, to further help Seeley Lake. Contact Claire Muller for information about being involved, 406-677-3506
