Sewers and crafters invited to share space, April 16 and April 17

SEELEY LAKE - The Tamarack Quilt Guild welcomes area sewers and crafters, who need working space, to join the group from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 and 17 at the Seeley Lake Community Hall. This is a great opportunity to work on their projects, to spread out and meet other sewers, quilters and crafters in the area at no cost.

For more information and/or to RSVP, please call Kris Gullikson at 406-241-1209. The RSVP is helpful because sometimes the hosts cook lunch for everyone and they need a head count.

Calling All Egg, Treasure Hunters, April 20

SEELEY LAKE - The Easter Bunny will be in Seeley Lake for the annual Easter Egg Hunt put on by the Seeley Lake Lions Club. Children ages 0-12 are welcome to participate, April 20, at the Seeley Lake Elementary (SLE) lawn. Registration begins at 12:45 p.m. and the egg picking and treasure hunting starts at 1 p.m.

Friday night, April 19 at 5 p.m. at the Senior Center, members of the Seeley Lake Lions Club and Seeley-Swan High School Leos Club will fill more than 3,000 eggs with candy. There are 21 special eggs for each age group, 0–3, 4–6 and 7–9. The lucky egg hunter who ends up with one of the special eggs with a number will be able to choose a toy prize.

For the 10-12 year-olds there is a treasure hunt in the Lions Club Park. Each youth will be given a treasure hunt map at SLE and then they will walk over to the Park at 1 p.m. with a few of the Lions.

Don’t forget your camera as the Easter bunny will be there for this annual visit!

Safe Food Handlers Training for teens, April 26

SEELEY LAKE - The Missoula County-City Health Department is offering a free four hour Safe Food Handlers’ training for teens in the Seeley-Swan area Friday, April 26th, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Seeley-Swan High School.

This Teen Food Safety Training offers Seeley-Swan teens the opportunity to learn about how to work with food safely, in a commercial setting, demonstrate that knowledge, receive a certificate as a Safe Food Handler from MCCHD. They will also have the opportunity to talk with local Seeley Lake food service operators about what it means to get, have and keep a job in the food service industry. The certificate builds a teen’s resume when applying to work at food establishments.

All Seeley-Swan teens are highly encouraged to attend, whether you currently work in food service, or think you never will. The information and certification will help teens to get, have and keep a job, and to handle food safely in any setting.

The class would start promptly at 10 a.m. There would be a lunch break from 12-1 p.m. and end by 3 p.m.

For more information, and to sign-up for the training, please contact Michael Dorshorst at MCCHD at 258-4993 or mdorshorst@missoulacounty.us. Any Seeley-Swan food service operators are encouraged to contact Dorshorst about getting training for current staff and how to be a part of the open forum discussion.
