SEELEY LAKE - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to repair and stabilize a roadside slope on Montana Highway 83 (MT-83) near Lake Alva.
The project is located about 10 miles north of the town of Seeley Lake on MT-83 at reference post 24.9.
Proposed work includes the construction of a retaining wall behind the existing guardrail, slope flattening below the proposed wall and repair or replacement of drainage features.
The purpose of the project is to stabilize the roadside slope to minimize potential long-term impacts to the roadway surface.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2020 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. New right-of-way will likely be required. Relocation of utilities may be required. MDT staff will contact all potentially affected landowners prior to performing survey work on their land. Staff will again contact landowners prior to construction regarding property acquisition and temporary construction permits.
