Open house to discuss zoning in northern Powell County, April 1

OVANDO – The Powell County Planning Department will host an informal Open House Monday, April 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Ovando School to discuss zoning in northern Powell County and gather public comment about the current zoning map.

Two years ago a growth impact study was done for Powell County. In response to this they are looking at possibilities of changing zoning laws in Northern Powell County due to requests from some residents to see more flexibility and options for the construction of new housing.

Those interested are encouraged to come anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to look at maps, boundaries and provide comments. No decisions have been made and decisions will not be made immediately. This is a fact-finding mission by the Powell County Planning Board to get the pulse of surrounding communities to see what the majority wants.

If unable to attend, comments can be made through an online survey. This survey is meant to help gather more information about housing in the northern part of the County. The survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NM877N9

To view the County Zoning Map visit the County Planning website at
