Seeley Lake Ranger District roads update
SEELEY LAKE – While salvage logging still continues on the Seeley Lake Ranger District, many of the projects have been completed. There are only two snowmobile trail closures still in effect:
• Rice Ridge Road (Forest Service Road 720) from Highway 83 north to FS Road 4343
• Cottonwood Lakes Road between the Mount Morrell Lookout Road east to Dry Cottonwood Creek including the trail from Kozy Korner to Cottonwood Lakes Road.
These routes are closed to snowmobile traffic from 12 a.m. Monday to Friday at 12 p.m.
Recreation staff at the Ranger District remind recreationists that snowmobile trails are closed to wheeled vehicles until April 30. For the most current road information call the Ranger District, 406-677-2233.
Movie Night at the Fire Hall, March 23
SEELEY LAKE – Come down and learn to train your dragons! “How to Train Your Dragon 2” will be playing at the Seeley Lake Fire Department March 23. Hotdogs will start at 5:30 p.m., follows by popcorn and movie at 6 p.m.
From the Academy Award nominated film “How to Train Your Dragon” comes the next chapter in the epic trilogy. When Hiccup and Toothless discover a secret ice cave filled with hundreds of wild dragons and a mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of an epic battle to save the future of men and dragons.
Everyone is welcome. Bring your favorite comfy chair. The event is free for the entire family. Donations are accepted.
Essential Oils 101, March 20 & March 23
SEELEY LAKE – doTERRA Wellness Advocates Mari Bergeson and Marjorie Pelletier will be hosting two free classes, March 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. and March 23 from 10-11:30 a.m., to help the community understand the multiple uses of essential oils. Both classes will be in the Seeley Lake Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room.
Essential oils provide immune system and digestive system support as well as help achy muscles. Everyone is welcome whether they are experienced or new to essential oils or for those exploring healthy alternatives to over-the-counter medications and household products.

Trapper Ed Class Set for April 6 in Missoula
MISSOULA - A trapper education class is planned for Missoula on Saturday, April 6 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 2 Office (3201 Spurgin Road). The class is free and open to anyone.
Topics will include trapping equipment, trap setting, ethics, regulations, furbearer identification and fur handling. Participants will receive a student handbook and a certificate of completion upon passing the class. Students should bring a notebook and a lunch.
This class does not certify students for Montana’s wolf trapping season. New wolf trappers in Montana must complete a wolf trapper education course, offered later this year in Missoula and other several locations throughout Montana. Dates for those classes have not been set, but prospective wolf trapper education students can find out more on at fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter.
Students must register by calling FWP at 406-542-5500 or Montana Trappers Association (MTA) member Bob Sheppard at 406-793-5885. An adult must accompany students under 10 years of age.
