BUTTE, MONT. - The Lady Blackhawks' season came to an end at the hands of the Manhattan Christian Eagles at the Western C Divisional Tournament Feb. 23. The Ladies fell to West Yellowstone in the opening round and then sent Drummond home in their first loser out game.
The Lady Blackhawks faced an uphill battle in the second half with West Yellowstone after falling 18 points behind in the first half.
The Ladies nearly matched West Yellowstone in the third quarter and made a run in the final frame shaving a 20-plus point deficit down to the single digits but it was too little too late. The Lady Blackhawks fell 61-71.
Autumn Morse led the Lady Blackhawks with 20 points including 4 three pointers. Lily Mercer also broke into the double digits with 12 points. The Lady Blackhawks hit 19 of 31 free throws.
Also scoring: Ashley Miller 8, Bethany Hoag 8, Sariah Maughan 4, Jory Towe 4, Terra Bertsch 3 and Lauryn Barnes 2.
The loss to West Yellowstone sent the Lady Blackhawks into the consolation bracket where they faced Drummond. The Ladies jumped to an early lead against Drummond building it up to 10 points by the final quarter. They held off Drummond in the fourth quarter to a 42-35 victory.
Morse and Bertsch led the Ladies with 9 and 8 points respectively. Maughan had the Ladies' only three pointer and the team shot 7 of 11 from the free throw line.
Also scoring: Mercer 7, Miller 6, Towe 4, Maughan 3, Kara Good 2, Hoag 2 and Barnes 1.
The Lady Blackhawks got off to a rough start against Manhattan Christian putting up just 3 points in the first quarter, all from free throws. They had a better second quarter with Morse, Miller and Maughan each hitting three pointers.
In the third quarter the Lady Blackhawks managed just three baskets and a free throw while they were limited to just free throws in the final frame. Overall the Ladies hit just under 12 percent of their shots compared to Manhattans' 34 percent. The Lady Blackhawks fell 31-56.
Morse again led the Ladies with 8 points followed by Millers' 7. The girls best shooting average came from the free throw line hitting 63.6 percent. Miller and Hoag hit 100 percent with 4 and 2 respectively.
Also scoring: Mercer 4, Bertsch 4, Barnes 3, Maughan 3 and Hoag 2.
Manhattan Christian advanced to the Consolation Game where they fell to Ennis for third place. Charlo and Arlee took first and second respectively and advanced to the state tournament.
