Fun with snow, ice and color

SEELEY LAKE – The annual snow sculpture tradition in Seeley Lake was kept alive by two entries from ReMarkable Floral and Stageline Pizza. Both entries secured a first place with ReMarkable Floral winning the business category and $100 and Stageline Pizza winning the snowman category and $25.

The Seeley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Alpine Artisans, Inc. sponsored this year's contest. Due to the lack of snow in January, the Chamber postponed the event until Feb. 17. Even though the snow eventually came, there were only the two entries in the competition that typically draws around a dozen entries.

"We appreciate their participation, hard work and time," wrote Chamber Executive Director Lisa Hayhurst.

AAI members Jean Dickey, Carol Evans and Gene Schade assisted the Chamber in judging the sculptures. Again, this year they were amazed at the artistry and creativity of the local sculptors.

The Chamber looks forward to continuing the Winterfest tradition next year.

"Our hope is to continue to grow it in order to attract people from the surrounding area into Seeley Lake," said Hayhurst who added they will continue to advertise and educate locals about the importance of the event to bring visitors to the area.
