SWAN VALLEY - This past week hosted viciously cold temperatures which hovered at zero or below but that didn't stop the Swan Valley School Parent Teacher Association from hosting an ice skating party at the recently established ice rink in the Condon arena. On Feb. 10, local skaters of all ages enjoyed chili and hot cocoa and were able to participate in a game of hockey.
Most skaters were students from the Swan Valley Elementary School, but experienced skaters such as school board member Jimmy Boyd also played hockey. The PTA sponsored the event. With the help of the 21st Century Community Learning Center they were able to provide food and hot drinks at the event. Boyd and his wife Stacey and Edward Klassen helped clear the snow and prepare the rink for the party.
Skaters gave positive feedback about their time at the rink and have since enjoyed using it more than once.
"I think the rink is a good asset for the community," said PTA President Jenny Kauffman. "Everyone seems to really like it."
