Movie Night at the Fire Hall, Jan. 26
SEELEY LAKE – Everyone is welcome to come to the Seeley Lake Fire Station Saturday, Jan. 26 for a big adventure with small feet. This month’s showing on the big screen is “Small Foot” following a spaghetti dinner starting at 5:30 p.m.
In the movie “Small Foot,” Migo is a friendly Yeti whose world gets turned upside down when he discovers something that he didn’t know existed -- a human. He soon faces banishment from his snowy home when the rest of the villagers refuse to believe his fantastic tale. Hoping to prove them wrong, Migo embarks on an epic journey to find the mysterious creature that can put him back in good graces with his simple community.
Everyone is welcome. Bring your favorite comfy chair. The event is free but donations are accepted.
Candidate filing open for Swan Valley Community Council seat
Swan Valley - Candidate filing for the two open seats on the SVCC is now open for the mail-in election to be held May 7, 2019. Missoula County Elections Office must receive the notarized Oath of Candidacy form by 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11.
The form is available at https://www.missoulacounty.us/home/showdocument?id=31801. Applications can be dropped off at the first floor of the Missoula County Courthouse or mailed to Elections Office, 200 West Broadway; Missoula, MT 59802. For any further questions call the Elections Office at 406-258-4751.
The next regular SVCC meeting will be 6 p.m., Feb. 19 at the Swan Valley Community Hall.
Seeley Lake Library News
SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library Book Club will discuss Sandra Cisneros’s “Caramelo” on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. In this novel, Lala Reyes tells the story of her family and extended family as they make their yearly trip from Chicago to Mexico City to stay with Lala’s grandparents. It has been described as a glorious book...crowded with the souvenirs and memories of the dramas of everyday life. All are invited to join in the discussion. Books are available at the checkout desk.
The Seeley Lake Library is a branch of Missoula Public Library located at Seeley-Swan High School. The library is open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Local students make Fall 2018 Dean’s Lists
Carroll College in Helena, Mont. and The University of Montana Western in Dillon, Mont. named local students to its 2018 fall semester dean’s list.
Brittany Cory of Seeley Lake made the Dean’s list at Carroll College. She received a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale and took at least 12 graded credits in a semester.
Paige Holmes of Seeley Lake and Iriey Anderson of Condon made the Dean’s List at UM Western. They were enrolled for at least 12 semester credits and carried a minimum 3.33 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
