SEELEY LAKE – Seeley-Swan High School rises to the top in the recent report released by the Montana Office of Public Instruction. Of the four Missoula County Public High Schools, SSHS’s graduation rate for 2017-2018 was the highest and 10 percent higher than the Montana average.
The Montana Office of Public Instruction’s Growth and Enhancement of Montana Students data reporting system provides access to multiple years of data and interactive reports on student achievement, graduation rates, enrollment, program and course offerings, district and school profiles, the National Assessment of Progress (NAEP), and financial information reported by school districts. Additionally, GEMS provides users the ability to compare Montana schools side-by-side.
Since the 2010-2011 school year, MCPS high schools have been equal to or above the state of Montana’s graduation rate. SSHS has led MCPS every year except in 2010-2011 which was led by Hellgate and in 2012-2013 when Sentinel had the highest graduation rate.
Last year, there was a 96 percent graduation rate for SSHS. Principal Dr. Kathleen Pecora said the only student who didn’t graduate because of extenuating circumstances is finishing school, “so that should go up to 100 percent.”
“We are proud of the fact that our kids graduate,” said Pecora. “The staff here works really hard to make sure that happens.”
