Open Book Club presents Allen Morris Jones Jan. 19

SEELEY LAKE - Bozeman author Allen Morris Jones will read from his book "A Bloom of Bones" Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Grizzly Claw Trading Co. His visit launches the 2019 Open Book Club series which is sponsored by Alpine Artisans. The Open Book Club is free and everyone is welcome.

"A Bloom of Bones" is a murder mystery set in eastern Montana's windswept Garfield County. The story's focus is Eli Singer, a solitary rancher and poet. The discovery on his ranch of the long-buried corpse of a neighbor thought missing upends his quiet life. At the same time, his poetry has drawn the attention of a New York City book publisher and Chloe Barnes enters his life.

The combination of love story and an unsolved murder serves as a basis for this compelling novel but Jones has more than a great story to share. The bedrock of the book is the setting in which it takes place. The hard-bit, dry land ranch life comes alive in his narrative and each character's struggle provides a window into the challenges of life in eastern Montana. The story unfolds smoothly and the of use alternating points of view which makes it all the more intriguing.

As stated by author William Kittredge, "What a terrific novel Allen Jones has given us! "A Bloom of Bones" is articulate, occasionally heartbreaking and all the way fascinating." This is an entertaining book, perfect for winter reading.

This reading will begin with a short poetry reading by Seeley-Swan High School senior Nicole Williams, a contributor to the school's poetry journal "Backroads of the Mind."
