Seeley-Swan soars over Drummond

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks took on Drummond for their first home game of the season Dec. 7.

The Lady Blackhawks took an early lead over Drummond and kept a couple baskets ahead throughout the rest of the game to a final score of 61-55.

Autumn Morse and Ashley Miller each scored 14 points to lead the Lady Blackhawks. Morse scored 2 of the team's 4 three-pointers. Kara Good and Taylor Dillree hit the other three-pointers.

Also scoring: Good 9, Chloe Robbins 8, Dillree 5, Sariah Maughan 4, Jory Towe 4, Lauryn Barnes 2 and Aspen Conley 1.

The Boys outscored Drummond 2 to 1 in the first quarter and 3 to 1 in the second to take a 23-point advantage into the second half. Drummond tried to make a run at the Blackhawks in the third quarter but the Blackhawks took back control by the fourth quarter. The final score was 66-49.

Four Blackhawks scored into the double digits with Owen Mercado leading the way at 18 points. Chance Johnson was on fire in the second quarter scoring 11 of his 17 game points. Cordell Turner nailed 3 three-pointers on his way to 14 points. Dakota Wood made 5 baskets and 4 free throws for his 14 points.

The Boys were 14 of 20 from the free throw line with Mercado shooting a perfect 4 for 4.

Also scoring: Hunter Shelmerdine 2 and Lane Mackie-Wendel 1.

This week

The Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks host Valley Christian Dec. 14 with JV Boys starting at 2:30 p.m. and then head to Arlee Dec. 15 with JV girls starting at 1:30 p.m.
