Section 31 donated to Swan Valley Connections - Ice rink plans

SWAN VALLEY - Swan Valley Connections Board Chair Barb Raible announced to the Swan Valley Community Council that Swan Valley Connections is the recipient of 160 acres within Section 31 in Condon at the Council meeting Dec. 4. SVCC Chair Ken Donovan also gave a report on the plans for the ice skating rink to be located in the arena area next to the Swan Valley Community Hall. Finally, the council is finishing up the final edits to the Swan Valley Regional Plan and preparing to send it to Missoula County for approval.

Raible said that The Nature Conservancy deeded the 160 acres in Section 31, located across Highway 83 from the Swan Valley Community Hall, to Swan Valley Connections to use in their education and conservation efforts. Read the full story on page 1.

Donovan said that the Swan Valley Community Foundation has provided the funds for a 60 x100 foot ice skating rink form which should be delivered next week. A group of volunteers are planning to assembly it at the Community Hall arena location.

SVCC member Henry Westra reported that the final page acknowledging those who worked on the SVRP will be written and the final draft will be sent to Missoula County for their consideration.

The Council agreed to meet at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday throughout the winter. The next meeting will be Jan. 15 at the Swan Valley Community Hall.
