Seeley Lake's Klayton Kovatch shot this 5x5 whitetail buck Nov. 24 in HD 285 near Ovando with a 7mm-08. Although this wasn't his first or his largest, it was special because he harvested this deer on what would have been his namesake great grandfather John's 100th birthday. This was the first buck he field dressed completely by himself. Klayton donated the meat to the Seeley Swan Community Food Bank as he and his sister had filled the family freezer earlier with two cow elk.
