New product for Medicare open enrollment 2019: LASSO Healthcare MSA

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall colors. Medicare Open Enrollment (Oct. 15-Dec. 7) is once again in full swing!

This year for 2019, in addition to four regular Medicare Advantage Plans (HMO and PPOs) offered by Blue Cross and Humana; twenty-eight new prescription drug plans; and standard Medicare Supplement Plans; there is a new option for Medicare recipients in Montana called LASSO Healthcare MSA.

LASSO Healthcare MSA combines a high-deductible Medicare Advantage Plan with a custodial savings account approved by the Internal Revenue Service. Briefly how it works: 1. LASSO Healthcare MSA deposits $2,520 from Medicare into a bank account designated for you; 2. You will receive a special debit card linked to your LASSO Healthcare MSA and you use it to pay for your health care expenses, but only Medicare covered expenses count toward your deductible; 3. After you spend the $2,520 that Medicare deposited into your bank account, you pay $4,180 of your own funds for a total deductible of $6,700; 4. Any further Medicare covered expenses which you incur are fully covered by Medicare for the rest of the year.

LASSO Healthcare MSA has a $0 monthly premium. Prescription drug coverage is not part of this plan, you purchase prescription drug coverage separately. There is no network, so you can go to any medical provider who accepts Medicare patients in the United States. LASSO Healthcare MSA also provides VISA gift cards up to $225 per year to incentivize members to utilize their health care benefits.
