Why I voted for Lee Bridges

As a child immigrant from an archipelago ruled by an oligarchic despot, I’m acutely aware of how precious my vote is. As a U.S. citizen and Independent, I vote. No matter how disgusted or jaded I’ve become with decisions from both parties, I vote. Without fail, in every election, I vote--and for HD 92, I’ve voted for Lee Bridges.

Unlike the current and previous incumbents, Lee has lived, worked, recreated and volunteered for over 30 years in the district she would represent, forging productive relationships that would serve her well in representing her neighbors from Clinton to Piltzville to Seeley Lake and Condon.

Lee knows the economic history here and personally experienced the hardships of transitioning from one livelihood to another in difficult times. When the company where she worked folded, she set up her own metal workshop and became involved in the growing cottage industry.

Lee hunts, but, along with hunters’ rights, she values safeguarding public lands which support the wildlife, flora, air and water that sustain us.

Lee serves on a local community council, collaborating on the growth plan. As a first responder for a rural volunteer fire department, she researched the cyclical need for wildland fire mitigation.

In her three decades here, Lee has befriended, worked for, volunteered with and listened to truly diverse expressions of values and beliefs. Yet, unlike the incumbent, Lee resolutely seeks out the shared threads of concerns and experiences that matter most to the majority of us.

On a bipartisan website, the incumbent listed the following as a favorite quote, attributed to Jeb Bush: “I just don’t [sic] wake up every day thinking I’m [sic] the answer to all the worlds [sic] problem.” Lee wrote, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Vote for Lee. She understands our district is a microcosm of the world, and she embodies the grit to move us forward together.
