Lady Blackhawks remain undefeated in conference

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks added a pair of conference wins to their record last week bringing it to 8-0 in conference and 11-3 overall.

The Lady Blackhawks hosted the Lincoln Lynx Oct. 11. The Lynx were hungry for a win and with a lack of snowshoe hares in the building they took after the Lady Blackhawks.

During the first two games the Lady Blackhawks came out strong but near the end of each game the Lynx closed the gap and tied it up. The teams were tied at 22-22 in game one and tied at 24-24 in game two. The Lady Blackhawks managed to pull off both wins, 25-23 and 26-24.

The Lady Blackhawks jumped to an early 12-5 lead in game three but the Lynx made their move a little earlier than in the first games, tying it at 17s. The Lady Blackhawks weren't having it and sent the Lynx home 25-20.

Klaire Kovatch led the Ladies with 5 aces, 4 blocks and a pair of stuff blocks. Sariah Maughan joined Kovatch with a pair of stuff blocks while Autumn Morse had 9 digs and 13 assists and Ashley Miller led with 7 kills.

The team headed to Victor to take on the Pirates on Oct. 13. They put the Pirates in their place 25-21, 25-13 and 25-16 bagging yet another three game win.

Miller scored 3 of the team's 4 aces and led in digs with 10. Kovatch and Maughan had 8 kills each while Miller and Kovatch scored the only two stuff blocks. Kovatch had 7 of the team's 15 blocks.

This week is the final week of the regular season before tournaments. The Lady Blackhawks heading to Valley Christian Oct. 18 with games at 5:30 p.m. and then they host Darby Oct. 20 with games starting at 4 p.m. Being the final home game it is Senior Night where seniors will be honored between the JV and Varsity matches.
