This pile burning will occur after approval from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and Missoula County. Absentee ballots to be mailed Oct. 12
MISSOULA - Preparations for this November’s general election are underway in Missoula County, as the Elections Office gets ready to mail around 48,000 absentee ballots on Friday, Oct. 12.
Voters who have previously requested absentee ballots should receive them sometime the following week, according to Missoula County Elections Administrator Dayna Causby. Though the exact number of absentee ballots won’t be known until the office generates its official reports for the mailing, Causby said around 60 percent of the county’s 80,000 registered voters opt to cast their ballots by mail.
Registered voters who have not previously requested an absentee ballot can do so by completing the Application for Absentee Ballot, available at https://www.missoulacounty.us/government/administration/elections-office or at the Elections Office, Building 15 at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the general election is Monday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m.
Absentee ballots must be received, not postmarked, by Election Day. The Elections Office urges voters to mail their ballots no later than Thursday, Nov. 1, and include sufficient postage (71 cents, or two Forever stamps).
Voters also can drop off their ballots at the Fairgrounds during drive-thru ballot drop-off events from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 1-3, and Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 5-6.
Voters planning to cast their ballots on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, can find their polling place on the Secretary of State’s https://app.mt.gov/voterinfo/. Polling places and addresses also are listed on the voter confirmation cards mailed before each election.
