Seeley Lake Chamber to relocate

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is no longer located in the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors’ Center, locally known as “the Barn.” The Chamber is moving to a location more fitting for their seasonal needs and be closer to the downtown area, primarily due to the higher additional traffic volume.

The Chamber’s Executive Director Lisa Hayhurst said that while visitation at the Visitors’ Center was up over last year, overall visitation has decreased somewhat. She attributes that to the Chamber’s new website and travel app as well as social media and technology advances in general.

“More and more people can find information they need, within seconds from their mobile devices from our website or travel app and are likely not needing to stop at a visitors center as they did in the past,” wrote Hayhurst in an email.

The Chamber moved out of the Barn on Sept. 5.

Representative of the Seeley Lake Historical Society on the Barn Board Ron Cox sees the shift as a positive thing allowing the Chamber to focus on assisting and promoting businesses. The Board intends to continue to maintain the Museum and the Visitors’ Center within the Barn even though the Chamber will no longer be located upstairs. A renter is being sought for the vacant space.

The Chamber will continue to respond to their email and voicemail during the off-season. To contact them email, slchamber@blackfoot.net, call 406-677-2880 or send mail to, PO Box 516, Seeley Lake, MT 59868.

The Barn will remain open Friday and Saturday afternoons through mid-October.

Hayhurst wrote, “We greatly appreciate all the support and contributions from our members and we look forward to announcing our new location soon.”
