SEELEY LAKE – Over the weekend more than $2,600 worth of damages was reported to Seeley-Swan High School property. Law enforcement officials are seeking additional information regarding who was involved in the destruction of a snow blower that was pushed off SSHS’s roof.
Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Bob Parcell said sometime between Friday, July 6 afternoon and Monday morning a group of individuals climbed on the top of SSHS. They brought bicycles up and rode all over the roof.
Stored on the roof was a tarped $2,600 tracked snow blower. This was used to help with snow removal during the winter. Parcell said individuals dragged the snow blower to the edge of the roof and threw it to the ground.
“Those that were up there were basically just trespassing, a misdemeanor, until at least two of them decided to throw that machine off the edge of the roof and destroyed it,” said Parcell. “That became a felony.”
Parcell advises those in the group to come forward with the names of the individuals who destroyed the snow blower.
“We have some pretty good evidence [and the number of people in the group] but we want to know the two that were involved in throwing the machine off the roof and damaging it,” said Parcell. “This is our tax dollars at work to keep the school up and functioning. This is just pure vandalism, pure criminal mischief.”
If you have any information about the incident please call Sergeant Parcell, 406-531-0366, Deputy Heath Hanson at 406-240-6868 or call 9-1-1 and leave a message for Parcell or Hanson.
