Missoula County Fire Danger Elevated to MODERATE - Outdoor Permit Burning CLOSED

Wildland fire officials with the Missoula County Fire Protection Association (MCFPA) have elevated fire danger within Missoula County to MODERATE.

Weather forecasters predict hot and dry conditions by the end of the week with temperatures ranging into the 90s throughout the region. Due to increasing fire danger and changing conditions, the last day for debris burning was July 3 in Missoula County.

Produce one less spark by making sure campfires are cold to the touch before leaving it by drowning it with water and stirring it to expose residual heat.  Have water and hand tools available on-site when having a campfire.

MCFPA also reminds the public that fireworks are prohibited on all state and federal classified forest lands. Since HOT weather is forecasted, grasses will dry quickly and increase the potential for starting fires.

“Like” the Missoula County Fire Protection Association on Facebook and get information on our webpage: http://www.mcfpa.org for more local fire information. Thank you for being safe with fire this summer season!
