Team Seeley Rides for Addy Trevino

SEELEY LAKE – Jaycee McGraves, Shelley McGraves along with teammate Diane Jones are riding for a second year as Team Seeley in the Great Cycle Challenge. This year they are riding for local cancer warrior three-year-old Addy Trevino, raising money for childhood cancer research.

The Great Cycle Challenge started in 2015 and has grown to become one of the biggest cycling events in the United States. This year it includes 40,447 riders from across the country and 227 riders from Montana.

People of all ages, abilities and from every state set personal riding goals and log their miles through the month of June. The funds raised support the Children's Cancer Research Fund to help develop better treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

After finding out about Addy Trevino's inoperable Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG) brain tumor last July, they wanted to ride for her this year with her parents' permission.

"Children's Cancer research is what we are riding for," said Jaycee. "We need to let people know that we really need to fight for a cure for cancer, for everyone like Addy and the DIPG. That is a really tough cancer and these families don't need it."

This year the McGraves' goal is to ride 150 miles each in June. Jones' goal is 50 miles.

The Seeley Lake Firefighter Foundation sponsored Team Seeley for $250 per rider. They have raised $775 towards their team goal of $1,500.

All funds donated go to help researchers find a cure for childhood cancers. Addy's photo and the team photo appeared on the New York Time's Square Wednesday, May 23.
