SWAN VALLEY - It was a big day for the Richardson family at Swan Valley Elementary. Seth Richardson, an eighth grader, was presented with his diploma by his father and honored in a graduation ceremony alongside two other students who were graduating from kindergarten.
Richardson's father Nathan presented him with his diploma and gave his son a big hug.
"It was pretty overwhelming," Nathan said. "It's a little silly to have a ceremony for graduating eighth grade, but it's still a milestone. You're proud of any step that your kids take in life."
Colleen Harrington, the school's junior high teacher, commended Richardson's work ethic and attitude in her speech during the ceremony. When asked if he wanted to give any closing remarks, Richardson waved and shouted to the crowd, "Love you guys!"
Richardson will attend high school in Seeley Lake next year, where he is most excited to see his old classmates who have already moved on to high school.
The kindergarten graduates were Rabecca Klassen and Kaleesi Phillips. Klassen's favorite part of kindergarten was playing outside and learning phonics. Phillips could not be reached for comment.
