Hopkins Will Fight for You

We have come to expect that the Federal Government does not do its job. When it comes to State Government, we expect the opposite. We expect our State Legislature to get things done, to work together to tackle serious problems affecting us as citizens.

I ran to represent you in 2016 because it seemed like our state government had lost touch. Instead of creating an environment where small business can grow, the legislature had created one where small businesses were forced to jump through a seemingly never-ending set of hoops and red tape.

Living in Missoula County, we have all experienced the leadership of the Missoula County Democrats, who control government at the city and county level. We have all experienced the seemingly never-ending tax increases, fee increases and the continuing growth of ridiculous regulations on both private citizens and local businesses.

I thought there was a better way to do things. I wanted a State Government that goes out of its way to provide us with more opportunity, not less. A government that treats our tax dollars with the respect that they deserve, remembering that every dollar spent by government is a dollar not being spent by the taxpayer that actually earned it.

As your Representative, I have had the honor of fighting for you in the State Legislature. We have cut regulations on small businesses, passed the largest investment in rural infrastructure in modern Montana history, stood up for and protected Montana’s timber industry, passed the earned income tax credit, made it easier for entrepreneurs to start businesses in Montana and beat back over 18 separate tax increases that democrats brought last session.

If re-elected, I plan to chair the state’s infrastructure committee and shepherd the state’s infrastructure package through the legislature so that we can continue to improve public safety and build the necessary infrastructure in our rural communities that will allow us to compete with the major cities for good paying jobs.

I will continue to fight for better healthcare for our veterans, allow us to put out fires as soon as we see them rather than wait until they are out of control and threatening our property and our lives, protect Montana jobs in the timber and energy industries and write a responsible budget that keeps Montana on a path of fiscal responsibility and job creation.

If you believe that you should keep more of the money you earn, that regulations and fees on businesses and private citizens have gotten out of control, if you believe that we should be able to put a fire out when we see it instead of waiting for Helena and Washington to sign all their paperwork, I humbly ask for your support in the June 5th primary. I promise that no one will work harder to earn your vote and no one will fight harder for you and your families in the Legislature.
