Curtiss for Commissioner

MISSOULA - We are in the rare and fortunate position to choose between two highly qualified and thoughtful candidates for County Commissioner. Josh Slotnik brings a welcome new face to public life. However, Jean Curtiss’ experience is unmatched.

During Jean’s 17 years of service, the population of Missoula County and its economic output increased dramatically. Moreover, Jean knows every corner of our county and many of her constituents on a first-name basis. She grew up in the Swan Valley and has always been supportive of Seeley Lake when we needed her.

She has dealt with countless issues – economic growth, conservation, health, human service – and resolved them skillfully and with common sense.

Recent examples abound. More than 400 people now work at the once moribund Bonner mill site again. The Milltown State Park at the confluence of the Blackfoot and Clark Fork Rivers is about to open. The 2006 Open Space Bond has protected 30,000 acres of private lands with conservation easements to protect working farms and ranches, including in Seeley Lake. Thirteen mine reclamation projects in the 9 Mile Valley have focused over $2.4 million on cleaning up toxic sites.

With all this in mind, I urge you to join me in voting for Jean Curtiss for re-election as County Commissioner.
