Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of walking Housing District 92, listening first and speaking only when asked as I’ve met the great residents here. I have been encouraged by the people of this valley and their resilience to keep fighting for their way of life that they love and cherish.
What we have in our community is unique and was built by the generations before us through hard work and can-do attitude. The hard decisions they made still linger today and we are grateful for what they have left us.
As Republicans we are faced with an important decision as we go to the polls. This spring we have the opportunity to choose who will represent the Republican Party on the ballot for House District 92 in the general election this fall.
We are faced with a Republican primary this spring because people of our district felt like their voices were not being heard back in Helena. Both Larry Dunham and I entered this race because you, our neighbors, asked us to be that voice for you.
I have had the privilege of gaining a friend this election cycle. Larry and I have found that we agree more than we disagree. We both understand that frontier communities need big government off their backs and out of their wallets. We understand that we need to bring back high paying jobs in our lumber and mining industries. We understand that we need a representative who will fight to keep our families in our communities as the pressures of higher paying jobs in other communities or the increasing cost of living forces them to leave their homes.
I am grateful for my new friendship with Larry Dunham, and I am thankful that he has decided to endorse me in the Republican primary for House District 92 because of our common goals.
Moving forward, Larry will not sit idle because he has a deep passion for this community. Larry will not only be a critical voice for this community but a part of my team.
This job requires more than just showing up to vote but instead a greater sense of devotion to our district and our community. It requires not only our voices to be carried back to Helena but that our voices be heard in Helena. We need a representative who fights for our district and our way of life. That is why I am asking for your vote in the Republican primary election this spring.
Vote “DJ” Derek Smith on your mail-in ballot or polling station June 5.
