Commissioners Cancel Certain Special District Board of Trustees Elections, Declare Trustees Elected by Acclamation

MISSOULA - Following election by acclamation of numerous candidates, the Board of Missoula County Commissioners canceled several May 8 Special District Elections, which are listed below.

While the Missoula County Elections Office received many nominating petitions, several board positions remain unfilled, as indicated in the list. Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill these trustee positions, which will become vacant in May. Applicants must be residents of Missoula County and at least 18 years old. Residency requirements may also apply. All board positions are served on a volunteer basis.

Applications for vacant positions are available at missoulacounty.us/community/volunteer or in the County Commissioners’ Office, located at 199 W. Pine St. Submissions may be filed electronically by emailing sbell@missoulacounty.us. The deadline to submit applications is 5 p.m. Thursday, May 17. 

Per Resolutions adopted by the County Commissioners April 10 the following local Special District Elections have been canceled:

Greenough Potomac Fire District: Nominee Leigh M. Kelley elected by acclamation for three-year term. One three-year term running through 2021 is available. One vacant term running through 2020 is available.

Seeley Lake Community Council: Nominees Bruce Friede and Klaus von Stutterheim elected by acclamation for three-year terms.

Seeley Lake Swan Valley Hospital District: Nominees Terryl Bartlett and Bruce W. Richardson elected by acclamation for three-year terms.

Swan Valley Community Council: Nominees Kenneth C. Donovan and Kathleen Koors elected by acclamation for three-year terms.

Swan Valley Fire Service Area: No filings for one vacancy, a three-year term running through 2021.

Seeley Lake Water District: Nominees Freda Mae Grimes and Charles Hahn elected by acclamation for four-year terms.
