SSHS Yearbooks Wanted

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Historical Society is digitizing the Seeley-Swan High School yearbooks. They are missing yearbooks for 1968, 1970 and 1984.

“High school yearbooks are like a digital time capsule, capturing the hopeful young faces from SSHS in a history preservation project of Seeley Lake Historical Society and the Seeley-Swan High School,” wrote the Historical Society in an email.

If you have a copy of one of the missing yearbooks and would be willing to loan it to be scanned please contact the Historical Society by calling 677-2990 or email slhistory@blackfoot.net.

First Friday in Seeley Lake, March 2

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Chicken Coop is the featured business and host for the First Friday event in Seeley Lake, March 2. Happy hour drink specials and Chicken Coop trivia.Correct answers win drink prizes. The four-piece rock ‘n’ roll band from Missoula Circle of Terra will start playing at 7 p.m.

Swan Valley AARP Meeting, March 6

Swan Valley - The Swan Valley AARP will meet Tuesday, March 6 at noon at the Swan Valley Community Hall. A potluck lunch hosted by Neil and Dixie Meyer will begin at 12:30 p.m. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a brief meeting followed by a presentation by Linda Howard, Missoula Aging Services Resource Specialist, on services available to seniors. The public is invited.

Community Potluck Dinner, March 7

Swan Valley - Swan Valley Connections’ March Community Potluck Dinner 6 p.m. March 7 will feature a presentation by Leanna Grubaugh on bark beetle repellents for fir and pine. Come learn more about how these pheromones can help protect your trees!

Swan Valley Connections monthly potlucks are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Swan Valley Community Hall. This is a time for all community members to come together, share food, learn from one another and enjoy live music.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., potluck dinner at 6 p.m., presentation at 6:30 p.m., open mic-style live music at 7:15 p.m. - bring your instruments!

Free. Everyone is welcome.

Save the Date: Candidate Forums April 9 and 11

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Community Council will be hosting two candidate forums in April. This is an opportunity to learn more about the candidates for the contested positions and ask them questions.

The five candidates for the Seeley Lake Rural Fire District Board of Trustees and the six candidates for the Seeley Lake Sewer District Board of Trustees are final.

The filing deadline for the other positions is March 12 so more candidates may apply. All the candidates will be invited and it will be their choice if they choose to attend. As of Feb. 26, there is no contest for District Judge (4th District) and no filing for Public Service Commissioner (District 4).

The forums will begin at 5:30 p.m. with pizza and sodas and the formal part of the forum will start at 6 p.m. at the Seeley Lake Community Hall.
