SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks both wrapped up their regular season with a pair of district victories against the Darby Tigers and Victor Pirates.
The Boys head into the District 13C Tournament seeded in the top spot while the Lady Blackhawks are seeded in third. The Boys get a bye in the first round while the Lady Blackhawks will face Victor in their opening game of the tournament. For more information, the tournament brackets are printed in the Cory's Valley Market ad on page 16.
The Boys buried the Tigers early, outscoring them more than two to one in the first quarter and nearly four to one in the second quarter. They kept up the pressure in the second half to a 65-37 win.
Three Blackhawks broke into the double digits in scoring. Chance Johnson put in 7 baskets and three free throws to lead the Blackhawks with 17 points. Cameron Haines hit 4 shots including 3 three pointers for 11 points and Hunter Shelmerdine nailed 5 shots for 10 points.
Also scoring: Owen Mercado 7, Keaton Johnson 7, Dakota Wood 6, Avery Smith 5 and Hunter Sokoloski 2.
The Lady Blackhawks shot to an early lead over the Tigers but it would nearly evaporate by the half. The headed into the second half just 2 points up but were able to hold on for the 48-45 victory.
Klaire Kovatch led the Lady Blackhawks with 15 points. Terra Bertsch drilled 3 three pointers on her way to 12 points.
Also scoring: Lily Mercer 9, Chloe Robbins 6, Kara Good 3, Bethany Hoag 2 and Taylor Dillree 1.
Back on the home court the Lady Blackhawks showed no mercy to the Pirates. They held the Pirates to just 2 baskets and a pair of free throws in the first half and just 4 free throws in the second half. The final score was 52-10.
Aspen Conley racked up 13 points to lead the Lady Blackhawks. Conley also led in free throws hitting 3 of 4 attempted. Dillree sank 2, three pointers while Addie Anderson hit 1.
Also scoring: Kovatch 8, Dillree 8, Jordan Johnson 4, Hoag 4, Jory Towe 4, Anderson 3, Kinley Moore 2, Mercer 2, Good 2 and Bertsch 2.
The Boys were not nearly as brutal as the Ladies in dealing with the Pirates. They outscored the Pirates two to one in the first half and coasted to a 64-37 win.
Haines led the Boys with 18 points and hit 3, three pointers. Chance was just one point back while Keaton racked up 15 against the Pirates. The boys hit 14 of 19 from the free throw line. Mercado was 100 percent hitting 2 of 2 while Keaton hit 5 of 6 and Haines hit 3 of 4.
Also scoring: Cordell Turner 6, Smith 4, Wood 2 and Mercado 2.
