As of Jan. 29 only three people have filed for the 16 open board of trustee positions in Potomac, Seeley Lake and Condon. Of the nine open school board positions at Seeley Lake, Potomac, Swan Valley and Sunset, no one has applied.
All positions will be voted on in the May 8th mail-in election. If the number of applicants is equal to or less than the number of seats open, then those that applied will be elected by acclamation.
Local boards and number of positions to be elected include: Greenough-Potomac Fire District (2, 3-year terms); Potomac School (1, 3-year term); Seeley Lake Community Council (2, 3-year terms); Seeley Lake School District #34 (1, 1-year term, 1, 2-year term and 1, 3-year term); Seeley Lake Rural Fire District (2, 3-year terms); Seeley-Swan Hospital District (2, 3-year terms); Seeley Lake Sewer District (3, 4-year terms); Seeley Lake Water District (2, 4-year terms); Sunset School District #30 (1, 3-year term and 1, 4-year term); Swan Valley Community Council (2, 3-year terms); Swan Valley Fire District (1, 3-year term); Swan Valley School District #33 (1, 2-year term and 2, 3-year terms).
The Declaration for Nomination and Oath of Candidacy must be completed, signed before a notary and returned to the Elections Office in the Missoula County Courthouse at 200 West Broadway by 5 p.m., Feb. 12 for special districts and 5 p.m. March 29 for all school board positions. Applicants should note on their application which term they are applying for if there are multiple terms open.
