Swan Valley AARP Meeting, Feb. 6
Swan Valley - The Swan Valley AARP will meet Tuesday, Feb. 6 at noon at the home of Mike Childs and Diann Ericson, 566 Remick Road. A potluck lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a brief meeting followed by a film about the Swan Valley. The public is invited.
Swan Valley Community Potluck, Feb. 7
Swan Valley - Swan Valley Connections invites everyone to join them Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Swan Valley Community Hall for the February Community Potluck Dinner. It will feature a Crown of the Continent presentation by Rick Graetz.
Graetz, a University of Montana Geology and Geography professor, teaches courses on Montana, The Crown of the Continent, The Greater Yellowstone and numerous Mountain Field Studies. He is also the director of The University of Montana Crown of the Continent and Greater Yellowstone Initiative.
He and his wife Susie have explored almost every corner of the Crown of the Continent.
Swan Valley Connections monthly potlucks are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Swan Valley Community Hall. This is a time for all community members to come together, share food, learn from one another and enjoy live music!
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., potluck dinner at 6 p.m., presentation at 6:30 p.m., open mic style live music at 7:15 p.m. - bring your instruments!

Montana Department of Transportation Proposes Resurfacing Project for Montana Highway 83
CONDON - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to resurface about 16.3 miles of Montana Highway 83, north and south of Condon in Missoula County.
The project begins at the Missoula/Lake County line at reference post 47.8 and extends southerly for 16.3 miles, ending at the southern boundary of the Lolo National Forest at reference post 31.5.
Proposed work includes crack sealing, seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, upgraded pavement markings, signing and delineation upgrades. The purpose of the project is to enhance the safety of the traveling public and take a cost-effective action to prolong and preserve the existing pavement.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2020, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will not be needed.

Missoula County Announces New Elections Administrator
MISSOULA - Missoula County Commissioners are pleased to announce that Dayna Causby is Missoula County's new elections administrator after several rounds of screenings and interviews. Causby is currently the Cleveland County Director of Elections in Shelby, N.C. After receiving a degree in Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University she went onto a career in human resources and logistics management in several trade industries. She began working in elections in 2012 during North Carolina's "No-Excuse Absentee" Early Voting Period and advanced quickly in the field of elections administration. She received National Certified Elections Registration Administrator (CERA) certification in 2015 and currently serves on several local community boards and committees as well as state and national committees in the election industry.
"We're thrilled that Dayna will be leading our elections office and serving the voters of Missoula County," said Commissioner Dave Strohmaier who also sits on the County's Elections Advisory Committee. "We had a strong pool of applicants and our new administrator will need to fill some pretty big shoes. The commissioners are confident that she's up to the task."
"I'm excited for the opportunity to serve the voters of Missoula County and hope to exceed their expectations," said Causby. "Innovation and efficiency rank at the top of my list along with providing quality customer service. My family and I are thrilled to be joining the Missoula community."
Causby will take up her new position March 1.
