This past week the northern Rockies was hit by a major snow storm dumping reports of more than three feet of snow in the area and leaving many without power for days. We asked our Facebook followers to share their snow photos with us. We were overwhelmed with the response! While we wished we could have printed them all, these were our favorites and ones we thought would print well.
The Seeley Lake Ranger District recorded 15 inches of new snow Thursday, Dec. 28 and 13 inches by 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29. There was another 17 inches by Tuesday, Jan. 2 with 25 inches on the ground. There was no measurements taken over the long weekend.
The North Fork Jocko SNOTEL site showed an increase of nearly 60 inches of snow accumulation for the month of December. On Jan. 1 there was 82 inches of snow at the site which is at 6,330 feet. The snow water equivalent has increased from 7.5 inches Dec. 3 to 20.2 inches Jan. 1.
