SEELEY LAKE – Seeley Lake landowners John and Lizzi Rice won the 53-inch bear, pedal car and bag of toys in the raffle for Addy Trevino. Doug Richards organized the raffle that raised $1,435 for the Trevino family. Tickets were sold at Rovero's and at the Tree Lighting Celebration Dec. 16.
The Trevinos really enjoyed the Tree Lighting Celebration held by the Seeley Lake Fire Department and loved seeing the community come together.
"There are dark moments in this illness and these events come at the best times and pull us out of those dark moments" wrote Addy's parents Jen and Treay in an email about the Tree Lighting Celebration. "This was the 'pick me up' that our family needed after a few very rough days. Thank you to everyone who put in countless hours to help make it such a special night."
When the Rices were told they won the raffle, they gave items to Addy and her sister Miya for Christmas.
"Addy deserves everything that people can give. I just wish we could do more for her," said Lizzi. She and John give to children all the time at Christmas, so this was just one more way they could help during the holidays. "Tell them it is from Mr. and Mrs. Claus."
The Trevino family continues to be overwhelmed by the incredible community support for Addy.
"Doug Richards, especially, has been such a blessing in our lives. He has done so much for both the girls and has the biggest heart of anyone we know," wrote Jen and Treay. "Thank you to everyone who bought tickets to help support our family."
