The Toy Sale that Keeps Giving

SEELEY LAKE – Loving Hearts hosted their annual Toy Sale Dec. 5 at Mission Bible Fellowship. When the doors opened at 5 p.m. there was a line out the back door. The sale was wrapped up by 5:45 p.m. with more than 50 shoppers leaving with gifts for their children and stockings filled with goodies.

All year Loving Hearts volunteers save the best toys, stuffed animals and books for their Christmas Toy Sale. Volunteers helped mend, fix and clean the best used items to make them ready for the sale. Everything is stored in organizer Mary Newpower's hanger until the sale.

Thanks to generous donations and thrifty shopping, Newpower purchased six different collector Barbies, new craft supplies and many new toys.

"I think we did really well this year in preparation," said Newpower.

Volunteer Cyndi Triplett commented on how many new items there were for sale with prices ranging from one to ten dollars per item.

While many of the shoppers use this as an opportunity to purchase gifts for their children and relatives, one of the customers this year came to the toy sale to purchase gifts for a local family with a two-year-old that is having a hard time this year.

Newpower said every year is a guessing game about what items will be popular. She was surprised at how many new items remained as well as popular items in the past including blankets, dolls and craft supplies.

"We all agree it was a great success. We still have a large assortment of items so there is still stuff to be bought," said Newpower. "Everything is available for sale at Loving Hearts."
