Swan Valley AARP Meeting, Dec. 11

Swan Valley - The Swan Valley AARP will meet Monday, Dec. 11 at noon in the Swan Valley Community Hall.  A potluck lunch hosted by Joyce and Garry Wegner will begin at 12:30 p.m.  Bob Korn will lead a program of Christmas carols and stories starting at 1:30 p.m.  The public is invited.

Seeley Lake Flu Shot Clinic and Health and Safety Fair, Dec. 11

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Fire Department along with Missoula City-County Health Department And Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana Care Van have teamed up to offer a Flu Shot Clinic and Health and Safety Fair Dec. 11 from 2:30-6 p.m. at the Seeley Lake Fire Hall, 200 Firehouse Lane.

Flu shots will be available free for anyone six months and older. In addition to the flu shots, there will be free blood pressure checks and free smoke detectors. Also, chimney brushes will be available to check out and important information on fire safety and prevention as well as free refreshments will be available.

Insurance not required but please bring card if available.

USFS Timber Sales, Dogtown Plowing, Missoula Electric at next Council Meeting, Dec. 11

SEELEY LAKE - Timber sales, snow plowing in Dogtown and Missoula Electric will be the topics at next Monday’s Seeley Lake Community Council.

Rachel Feigley, District Ranger for the Seeley Lake Ranger District, will provide an update on the sale of log decks created during the fire suppression efforts as well as upcoming salvage sale opportunities.

Kristen Baker-Dickinson, unit manager of DNRC’s Clearwater Unit, will address the issue of snow plowing in Dogtown for the coming winter.

Finally, Mark Hayden, general manager of Missoula Electric Co-op, will have a slide show about what is going on at the company.

Like always, there will be an opportunity for public comments on non-agenda items.

The informal part of the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, Dec. 11, at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitor Center, 2920 Highway 83 with pizza and sodas. The formal meeting will begin at

6 p.m.

Swan Valley Community Library Highlights

Swan Valley - The Swan Valley Library receives new books both fiction and non-fiction each month for adults, young adults, juvenile and preschool. Patrons can also order any book that a partner library owns and it will be sent to the Swan Valley Library for the patron to pick up.

The library has four computers and a printer/copy machine for public use. New magazines from the Missoula Public Library are also available.

Story time for youngsters in preschool is held each Friday at 11 a.m.

Book Chat is not scheduled for December but will start again in January.

Food for Fines is accepted during the entire month of December. The food will be given to Condon residents. Food for Fines does not apply to lost or damaged books.

The Swan Valley Library is a branch of Missoula Public Library and is located next to the Swan Valley Community Hall in Condon on Highway 83.

The library is open Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Wednesdays it is open from 10 - 4:30 p.m.

Come in and browse.
