Some Seeley Snowmobile Routes to be Temporarily Closed

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Ranger District will close two snowmobile routes near the Rice Ridge Fire burned area beginning Dec. 1 so that trucks can safely haul logs that were removed during fireline construction on the Rice Ridge Fire. The log decks were staged on roadsides during fireline construction, which was built to protect the local community from the 160,187 acre Rice Ridge Fire.

The closures will start Dec. 1 and include:

SNO-63.01 (Cottonwood Lakes) from junction with SNO-63.13 (Kozy Korner) to junction with SNO-63.37 (Dunham Creek).

SNO-63.13 (Kozy Korner) from junction with SNO-63.01 (Cottonwood Lakes) to the Forest Boundary.

Please note: Snowmobiles will be allowed on the trails listed above after Dec. 16. As the log hauling work progresses there will be mixed use (log hauling concurrent with snowmobile use) in the Monture area and there also may be additional restrictions to snowmobile use on some routes in the Rice Ridge areas.

For current information and details on these restrictions please contact the Seeley Lake Ranger District at 406-677-2233.
