November Council Meeting Canceled, Postponed to December

SEELEY LAKE - The November Seeley Lake Community Council meeting was scheduled to take place at the same time as an important public sewer meeting scheduled for next Monday, Nov. 13, at the Community Hall at 6 p.m. Given the urgency of the sewer meeting and the time frame for protest submissions, the Council decided to recommend that Seeley Lake residents attend the sewer meeting.

The next Community Council meeting will be Monday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center. We expect that the agenda will be the same as was planned for November.

For further information please contact Klaus von Stutterheim, SLCC Press Contact, at 406-210-8576 or kvs@kvs.org.

Swan Valley Library Highlights

Swan Valley - Friday, Nov. 17 from 1 – 4 p.m. the Swan Valley Library will have an Open House for residents to come in and see the renovations to the log library building attached to the Swan Valley Community Hall. Refreshments will be available.

The Missoula Public Library director Honore Bray, assistant director Elizabeth Jonkel, and staff from the Missoula Library will be in attendance on Monday, Nov. 13 and Friday, Nov. 17.

The idea and fundraising for a local library came from valley residents in the 1970s. Rustics, a local log home company in 1978, built the building, which is connected to the Swan Valley Community Hall. The library was sand blasted, oiled and caulked this summer. It now contains new lighting, a heat pump, new shelving, new carpeting and furniture.

The Swan Valley Library is holding a silent auction for an autumn theme quilt. The winner will be announced on Dec. 1. Come into the library and enter your bid for this beautiful handmade quilt.

The book chat for this month will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. Readers will be discussing “The Paris Wife” by Paula McLain. The novel, a New York Times Bestseller, also was the winner of Best Historical Fiction in Goodreads Choice Awards along with being named one of the best books of the year by publications including People, Chicago Tribune, NPR and BookPage.

The novel tells the story of when the famous author Ernest Hemingway meets and marries 28-year-old Hadley Richardson in 1920. They move to Paris, France from Chicago and become part of the lively and changeable group known as the “Lost Generation.” The group included Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound and F. Scott Fitzgerald. As Hemingway struggles to write the novel “The Sun Also Rises” the couple faces a heartbreaking deception that leads to a crisis in their marriage.

The Swan Valley Library’s new hours started Nov. 1. They are Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
