District Champions

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks season may have gotten off to a smoky start but they are on fire now. They burned up the court at the District 13-C Tournament Oct. 27-28. They took down the Lincoln Lynx before upsetting the top seeded Clark Fork Mountain Cats in the undefeated match.
The Lady Blackhawks faced the Mountain Cats for a second time in the championship match and proved they were the top team in the district.
Versus Lincoln
The Lady Blackhawks faced the Lynx Oct. 27 in their opening match of the tournament. They made quick work of the Lynx, defeating them in three games, 25-10, 25-17 and 25-17.
Klaire Kovatch led the Lady Blackhawks with 9 kills and was joined by Chloe Robbins for three stuff blocks each. Tanisha Rhoades and Ashley Miller served up 4 aces each while Autumn Morse led with 10 digs and 15 of the team's 18 assists.
Versus Clark Fork: Undefeated Match
The Lady Blackhawks took the rest of Friday off and started their Saturday morning with a huge win over the Mountain Cats.
They took down the top seeded Cats in just three games, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-14. The victory guaranteed the Lady Blackhawks a trip to the Western C Divisional Tournament.
Autumn Morse scored 2 aces, 12 digs and 16 assists to lead the Ladies. Klaire Kovatch had 3 of the team's 4 stuff blocks. Ashley Miller and Kovatch each pounded in 6 kills.
Versus Clark Fork: Championship Match
The Lady Blackhawks faced the Mountain Cats for a second time in the Championship match after the Cats worked their way back up through the loser's bracket.
The Lady Blackhawks took game one 25-22 but got out of rhythm in the second game, falling 11-25. The Ladies got their feet back under themselves in game three taking it 25-21.
Game four was a nail biter that had the fans on the edge of their seats. The Lady Blackhawks were leading 24-19 when the Cats decided they really didn't want give up that soon. Five serves later, the game was tied up at 24.
The teams traded points tying it at 25, 26 and 27. The Cats were the first to put two points back to back and took it 27-29 and forcing the match to a fifth game.
The final game was another tight game. The Lady Blackhawks were trailing by one near the end but managed four straight points for the 15-12 victory earning the district title.
The Lady Blackhawks travel to the Western C Divisional Tournament at Manhattan Christian Nov. 2-4.
