The Seeley Lake Ranger District would like to thank everyone for your patience, dedication and hard work on the Rice Ridge and Liberty Fires. So many individuals contributed to the success of the firefighting efforts that it is impossible to comprehensively list all of those who participated in the daily briefings, cooperators meetings, worked out on the line, or supported the many functions that were in place.
However, I do want to specifically mention the residents of Seeley Lake, Ovando and the associated communities; wildland and structural firefighters; cooperating state, federal, and local agencies and law enforcement; Missoula and Powell County Sheriff’s offices and Office of Emergency Management and the five incoming incident management teams. Without this cooperative environment, management of these fires would have been much more difficult. It was very gratifying to see the communities pull together to accomplish this work during the 70-plus days of the Rice Ridge and Liberty fires during this historic fire season.
As we move forward toward post-fire recovery, I anticipate the relationships forged and strengthened in this fire situation will continue to make this part of Montana a special place to live.
Respectfully,
Rachel Feigley
Seeley Lake District Ranger
