Let's Protect Our Natural Resource – Water- Seeley Lake

SEELEY LAKE - Seeley Lake is the water supply to much of the town, community and others draw water from the lake or the surrounding community aquifer. So, let’s “cowboy up” to our responsibility of protecting it now and for future generations. Let’s support the construction of a community sewer system.

We have owned a cabin on the lake for 50+ years and we certainly understand the need for clean lake water and drinking water. We continue to enjoy and appreciate the Seeley Lake community; we have worked on community projects, we support the Community Foundation and we think it is time to build a community sewer system infrastructure.

Engineering studies are consistently concluding that the lake water is being contaminated by the many septic systems surrounding the lake. It’s a fact, that our inactivity or lack of support for the sewer project will only allow for further degradation of the lake and that flies in the face of good stewardship.

The Seeley Lake Community Plan Study of 2010 identified the long-standing community values of protecting natural resources, protecting the rural character and balancing growth to guard against changes in these qualities. The community also values its natural character as a recreational and economic driver.

In order to maintain and further accomplish these community values we should support the work and recommendations of the Seeley Lake Sewer District Board and take advantage of the grant monies that are available to clean up the community and Seeley Lake.

Sincerely,
