As a long-time summer resident of Seeley Lake, I’ve seen many changes throughout the years. Our community has developed and grown in many ways. The Seeley Lake Sewer District has an opportunity to improve our community and provide the right choice benefitting future generations.
By going forth with this project it will create a number of positive things for our community.
It will reduce ground water contamination. We have been aware of this issue for decades and it’s time to take care of our ground water. Additionally, it will help reduce the cost of housing by allowing less-expensive construction options. In turn, residents will be protecting our treasured lakes, rivers and streams- an argument we can all agree on.
The cost of construction is not an easy pill to swallow. Seeley Lake has secured a revenue stream of grant funds from the USDA Rural Development fund. As a former Dept. of Agriculture employee, I must relay that this funding vehicle is highly competitive so please don’t squander this rare opportunity. We must act and we must act now.
Lastly, let me say that if homeowners do not approach this issue from the local level it will be handed down from an enforcement status and most likely will include a larger price tag. Let’s do this together - today.
