SEELEY LAKE - Everyday most Americans work, play, and relax without thinking about what happens every time they flush a toilet. That’s because most Americans have a sewage treatment facility that properly handles human waste. In Seeley Lake each time we flush we’re not sure exactly how completely waste will be treated.
Some septic systems work better than others. All septic systems require maintenance and may require replacing the drain field at some point in time. Studies show a clear link between the location of septic systems and the degree of water problems in our community. Studies also show elevated nitrate and chloride levels in our groundwater.
The unique life style we enjoy living between the Missions and Swans is at risk due to inadequate treatment of sewage. The outdoor recreation we treasure and our economy are in the cross hairs of poorly treated wastewater. A sewer system for Seeley Lake is the most sensible solution to our problem.
Public information meetings will be held Aug. 23 and Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Seeley Lake Community Hall regarding a sewer for Seeley Lake. Your questions and the information provided will help everyone make the best choice for our community. Please plan to attend one or both of the information meetings.
