MISSOULA - The 4-H Country Fair is open to the public Aug. 8 – 13th at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. The Country Fair is an opportunity for 4-H members to show off their projects and hard work. Livestock and other projects are highlighted in shows and on display for fair attendees to enjoy.
According to Potomac 4-H Club Organizational Leader Allyson Nelson, the 4-H experience affords its members life-enhancing opportunities. “Lessons learned in 4-H shape young people into leaders and producers who will serve and lead well in their adult lives,” said Nelson.
Saturday, Aug. 12 is the Market Livestock Auction for 4-H and FFA.
“Supporting a 4-H or FFA member at the Livestock Auction helps create the opportunity to learn the importance of raising livestock and having responsibilities outside of oneself,” Nelson said.
Nelson continued, “Raising market animals teaches lessons not otherwise learned by young people; without the support of those surrounding 4-H and FFA our youth would lose the opportunity to learn invaluable lessons.”
For more information on the Country Fair contact the Missoula County Extension Office at 406-258-4201. The 4-H schedule of events is located online at missoulaeduplace.org/4-h.html under highlighted Fair Schedule.
4-H projects judged prior to the fair include Horse, Shooting, Dog and Archery. Watch for the Pathfinder’s fair coverage next week and find them featured in the 4-H Exhibit Building.
